Construction of the high school

The elementary school project transforms into high school expansion.

During the expansion of Ruvumu elementary school, other elementary schools had been built in the region. Consequently, the expansion project for the elementary school took a new turn. In 2009, the villagers appealed to the Foundation asking that the six new classrooms envisioned for the elementary school be used for high school classrooms. This would have served well the student population in the region who were about to complete their elementary school education.

As our mission is to help meet the region’s educational needs, the Foundation agreed to have the six classrooms targeted for high school education.

This is how Ruvumu’s high school came about. The first students started in September 2011 and the official inauguration took place on September 5, 2012. The first cohort of students graduated in September 2019. There was no better way to celebrate the Foundation’s 15th anniversary.
